Directions

Road Directions

By Road:  From the South there are good motorway links using the M6 Junction 31 Preston or Junction 31a Longridge, or by sing the M65. From the North use Junction 33 Lancaster. From the East the best access is to turn off the A65 at Long Preston and follow the B6478 into Slaidburn, then follow the directions below.   The house is situated 3 miles North of the small village of Slaidburn.

Directions from Slaidburn: From Slaidburn turn North at the War Memorial in the centre of the village taking the road signposted for Bentham.  Continue on his road for 2 miles passing the signpost for Stocks Reservoir on your right.  Ignore satnav instructions as satnav tends to deliver you to the wrong place!!  Continue on the same road for approx another 1.5 miles, climbing steadily all the while.  At the top of the hill and about 50 yards before a cattle grid you will see the house sign on your right by a wall at the entrance to the track to thehouse.  Turn in here.

If you are coming from the North, take the Slaidburn road from the centre of Bentham and follow this road for about 9 miles up and over the moorland, dropping down to a stone bridge.  Climb up the other side after the bridge and pass the entrance to two farms, one on the right and one on the left, then climb a short steep stretch of road and at the top you will see the house sign on your left.  Turn in here.  The gate may be closed as they need to keep sheep out of the garden but just please open it and go down the track to the house. If they know what time you are likely to arrive they will try and make sure the gate is open for you! (especially if it's raining!)

Public Transport Directions

By Train: There are hourly train services from Manchester and Blackburn to Clitheroe from where a local bus will get you to Slaidburn.  We can always pick you up in Slaidburn if you are without transport.

By Bus: There are regular bus services into the village by Bowland Transit.  Please do call if you need to be picked up.

By Air:  There are international airports at Manchester and Liverpool.
