Lake Cottage, Silverdale

Lake Cottage is a charming 200 year-old gamekeeper’s cottage close to Silverdale village and bordering Gait Barrows Nature Reserve. Refurbished to a high standard it offers comfortable 2-bedroomed accommodation for up to 4 guests.

The cottage is located in a sunny position at the end of a quiet lane bordering fields and woodland with lawned garden leading through willows to their private jetty on beautiful Hawes Water lake. It’s a perfect all-year-round setting that’s ideal for walking and nature-watching at the heart of the Silverdale/Arnside AONB.

The cosy living room with its beams, period furniture, inglenook and log burning stove is a great place to relax. The traditionally furnished kitchen area has an inglenook, range cooker, farmhouse table and pine dresser. Lake Cottage is their own weekend retreat which they let to guests on a limited basis and who are welcome to use the amenities, including quality hi-fi, collection of CDs, games, books and maps. You’ll also find the cupboards stocked with all the day to day provisions that make this a home from home the moment you walk through the door.

Outside is a sunny courtyard leading to a lawned garden and boardwalk to the jetty, with glorious 180-degree views over the lake to the woodland and fields beyond. It is a haven for wildlife with marsh harriers, otters, water rail, kingfishers and owls. Private fishing from the jetty, amazing night skies, miles of walks right from the doorstep… yet just a 30 minute drive to the Lakes, Dales and Lancashire fells.
