Higher Gills Farm

Situated at the foot of Pendle Hill, Higher Gills Farm offers magnificent panoramic views of the Forest of Bowland, and the Ribble Valley. Views also include the high moors of the Yorkshire Dales including Ingleborough, Penyghent and across to Malham Moor, Malham Cove, Aire Valley and into Wharfedale.

Higher Gills Farm is surrounded by the villages of Barley, Downham and Gisburn and close to the historic market towns of Colne, Clitheroe, Settle and Skipton. A working farm, Higher Gills is run by the Pilkington family, rearing beef cattle and sheep. The farm provides an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area, which is excellent walking country. Numerous footpaths run through the farm and onto the moors and nearby villages.

Beautiful sunsets can be admired of an evening in a tranquil setting of peaceful countryside. With no light pollution you can enjoy some of the finest night sky's you will ever see.

If birdwatching is your passion they have their own bird hide and are close to many wildflie hot spots.

There are two apartments available in a converted stable, each have a twin room, double room and a sofa in the lounge. Free wi-fi is also available together with private car park, patio and grassed play area with swings and slide and a utilty room for washing and drying.

Lower Laithe ground floor apartment is wheelchair friendly and accepts a well behaved dog by prior arrangement only.

GREEN STATEMENT: 'Our silver GTBS award was given because of our commitment to wildlife, local suppliers and energy saving. We have created nature notebooks illustrating local wildlife, and a perpetual diary to record sightings in. We have also identified and promoted 3 local walks from the farm for visitors to enjoy. We encourage recycling, and compost kitchen waste for the farmhouse gardens. We have switched to low energy light bulbs, and 'A' rated appliances wherever possible, and we also use and provide ecological cleaning and soap products. We provide a list of local suppliers and provide home made biscuits as part of our welcome pack'.
