Dale House offers a rustic barn stay in a beautiful and remote location. Situated on the edge of Gisburn Forest and near to Stocks Reservoir, there is plenty to do from walking; bird watching; fishing; on or off road biking; climbing; caving; stargazing or just plain and simple relaxing.
2016 saw the area awarded dark skies accreditation for being a perfect location for celestial sight seeing.
The 400 year old barn provides a charming and simple space for groups from 4 -14 people. Unlike most camping barns they provide mattresses or you are welcome to take your own roll mat or camp bed. On entering you will see the original flagged floors, beams and exposed stone walls, a huge log burner, large dining table and two sofas. There is a separate fitted kitchen with hob, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster. All cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided and there is also a cafetiere. Please note there is no oven.
There are two showers with continuous hot water (they do not meter hot water and electricity). There are also two toilets, one with disabled access.
Heating is a log burner situated in the middle of the open plan barn and also 4 old fashioned roll top radiators powered by the newly installed bio mass boiler. The radiators are on in the winter months in the mornings and evenings. They charge £4.00 a basket of wood to cover their costs. The fire will be laid for you upon arrival and you will be provided with kindling and other fire lighting materials if you are staying for more than one night. There are two sleeping areas with mattresses on mezzanine floors with large windows looking out on the stunning scenery. In the summer you can enjoy soaking up the warm sun or a BBQ in their south facing garden overlooking the wild flower meadow.
The barn which is attached to the farmhouse overlooks the picturesque scenery of Stocks Reservoir and Gisburn Forest
Well behaved dogs are also welcome in the barn.
Dale House also offer luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in their farm house.
Cooking retreats at Dale House take place in the beautiful farmhouse, situated in the Forest of Bowland AONB and the Yorkshire dales. The Women’s MTB weekends, hosted by the fabulous Liz Peacock of MTB trail skills, use the trails in Gisburn forest and also the natural terrain of the Yorkshire dales.
