Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy have recently announced the winners of the prestigious Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for summer 2023.

These awards recognise the quality of the beaches, the way they are managed and the facilities that they offer to visitors.  So, if you choose to visit a Blue Flag or Seaside Awarded beach this summer, you can be assured that it will be clean, safe, and meet the highest environmental standards.

Lancashire is proud to be home to ten of these beaches and with 2023 being the year of the coast, it’s never been a better chance for you to visit the beautiful Lancashire coastline.

Morecambe

The traditional seaside town of Morecambe has two award winning beaches, Morecambe North and Morecambe South.  But that’s not all, there’s plenty to do and see in Morecambe, whether it’s enjoying the stunning views across the promenade, admiring the marine-inspired artwork around the town or indulging in an afternoon tea at the iconic Midland Hotel, Morecambe is a great place to visit this summer.

Fleetwood

Home to a stunning promenade, the traditional seaside town of Fleetwood makes a perfect holiday destination. You don’t have to travel far to get to an award-winning beach in Blackpool, as it is home to three of them - Blackpool South, Blackpool Central and Bispham beach!

St Annes Pier Beach

Located just 5 miles down the coast from Blackpool is St Annes, another award-winning beach in Lancashire. This seaside resort offers sand, Victorian piers, donkey rides and plenty of ice cream vans, the perfect combination for a summer’s day out.

*Please note, these beaches are not designated bathing beaches and therefore do not have designated bathing water.
