The Rookery

The Rookery Experience

Chesterfield sofas, steampunk lamps, lovingly selected antiques and a working wood burner make The Rookery’s living area a rather impressive space to sit, relax and enjoy the breath-taking views on your doorstep.

The Rookery is a unique grass roofed dwelling located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in East Lancashire. With industrial and steampunk influences combined with bespoke craftsmanship and breath-taking views this space is not a home from home but an escape into the alternative. Surrounded by 6 acres of farmland and enjoying lovely views, which can be enjoyed from its private outdoor hot tub, The Rookery boasts a peaceful, rural position in the heart of east Lancashire’s beautiful Pendle district.

This detached stone cottage, with a grass roof has been lovingly built by the owners to provide a comfortable and truly unique holiday home. Combining elements of rustic living with the industrial history of Lancashire, the owners have created an unusual and interesting space that is quite unlike any other holiday cottage. Industrial and steampunk influences, combined with bespoke craftsmanship and breathtaking views, will ensure that your stay at The Rookery is one that you will not forget.

Located off the reading area you will find two double bedrooms with bespoke lighting, comfy bedding and a cracking view. The third bedroom is ‘The nest’ and is located off the reading area and up the ladders. This is a secret hideaway room that is great as a snug. If your party includes more than 4 people we have some comfortable pull out beds for “The Nest”.

You have a handcrafted fully fitted kitchen here with a stunning belfast sink and polished concrete worktops. The large central island created from an architect’s plan chest is your main dining area and will seat 6 comfortably.

One of the favourite rooms in The Rookery, is the bathroom. It really has the wow factor! With black subway tiles and gold geometric boarder, sewing machine basin, a huge copper profile shower and a cast iron roll top bath that will easily fit two! Fresh towels are provided and will be changed at the end of your visit.

Outdoors is a patio area with BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining, as well as a private 6-person hot tub. The panoramic views are breath taking.
