As part of a programme of events to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade, this exhibition draws on an album of photographs documenting a trip to eleven Caribbean islands in 1899.
The images, taken by members of the Miller family, offer a unique glimpse of life in the Caribbean as the 19th century drew to a close. Presenting new photographs of locations featured in the original album, the exhibition will also explore Preston’s ongoing connection with the Caribbean.
