Home > Night Time Buzz in Lancashire > The Continental - DNA Puppetry Presents A-TISHOO A Christmas Cold
Preston's touring children's theatre company DNA Puppetry returns to The Continental for a run of their popular winter play, A-tishoo!
A young girl lies in bed with a heavy cold – unable to join in with the rest of the family she finds her imagination leads her to faraway lands and fantastic stories. The show is an extraordinary visual treat for the youngest members of the family at Christmas time, using puppets and simple everyday objects.
Using innovative visual theatre techniques and delightful puppetry, DNA Puppetry lead young children through imaginative landscapes and stories using light and shadow, paper and performer. With a composed soundscape and projected imagery, this performance is certain to engage and stimulate young minds and hearts.
Unlike the all-too predictable Xmas panto, DNA Puppetry’s winning formula involves a stunningly innovative mix of music, puppetry and performance, guaranteed to delight the very young. DNA Puppetry lead the field in interactive early years theatre experiences, and A-Tishoo can be incorporated into early years learning journeys. This magical show has been specially created for children under 6 and is a visual theatre delight - made entirely out of tissue paper!
A-tishoo comes to The Continental after a month long sell-out run at Alliance Francais theatre in Singapore and the Actors Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The Continental is on the corner of South Meadow Lane and Riverside, easily accessible by foot, bicycle, car or bus from the town centre. Check out the Google Map, or follow the directions below.
Walk / Cycle: From the town centre, go down to the river through Avenham or Miller park - turn right on the riverside path, and go straight on until you leave the park: The Continental will be the first building you see.
If it's later on or you don't fancy going through the park, you can just go straight down Fishergate Hill past the train station and County Hall. Keep going until you reach South Meadow Lane, then turn left - carry on all the way to the end of South Meadow Lane. We're the last building you reach, next to the railway bridge.
If you're coming from Penwortham or west Preston, the simplest way to get here is to walk south along Broadgate along the river, then along Riverside until you get to the pub on the corner of Riverside and South Meadow Lane.
Bicycle racks are supplied at the front of the pub, next to the side gate in the beer garden, and in the carpark at the back of the beer garden.
Drive: From the town centre, head straight down Fishergate Hill past the railway station and County Hall, then turn left onto South Meadow Lane. Follow South Meadow Lane until you reach the river, and the pub will be on the right. There's a generous car park behind the beer garden, which can be reached by turning right straight after the pub onto Riverside.
If you're coming from out of town, it's easy to get lost in Preston's less-than-perfect one way system - we'd suggest finding your way onto Ringway, which curves round the north of the town centre forming part of the A6 and the A59. After that, head west and follow the signs to the railway station up Corporation Street - once you've reached the railway station, follow the directions above.
If you're coming from Penwortham or the west of Preston, drive along Broadgate from Fishergate Hill, onto Riverside, and then turn left onto Connaught Road. Drive straight along Connaught Road until you reach the end, then turn right onto South Meadow Lane. The pub is a couple of hundred yards along on the right.
By Bus: You can catch the Preston Bus or Stagecoach service number 3 down Fishergate, and get off at the junction of Fishergate Hill and Broadgate (just before the bridge over the river Ribble). From here, it's just a short walk down Broadgate and on to Riverside until you get the the pub, on the corner of Riverside and South Meadow Lane.
Both services also call at the bus stop on the opposite side of Fishergate Hill on the return journey to Preston, along with services to and from Leyland, Southport and other outlying areas.
