Children's charity Barnardo's is to work with Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board at this year's tourism awards, supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
Guests at the awards ceremony on June 20 at De Vere Heritage Heron's Reach Hotel in Blackpool will be taking part in a raffle to raise money for underprivileged children from the county to enable them to enjoy a Lancashire seaside break. Staff from Barnardo's will be joining the ceremony to encourage support.
Include Me 2 based at the charity's Chorley and South Ribble Families Project in Lostock Hall will directly benefit from the fundraising.
The initiative is jointly funded by Barnardo's and Lancashire County Council Social Services Directorate and delivers services to children with severe learning and/or physical disabilities and their families.
Sue Hayes, North West Director for Barnardo's said: "We are delighted to be working closely with Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board to raise vital funds for Barnardo's in Lancashire.
"Barnardo's works hard to provide a practical and positive response to problems like abuse, poverty, homelessness and the challenges of disability. And while we can't create a perfect world, we can work with the most vulnerable children and young people across the North West to help transform their lives and fulfil their potential."
Mike Wilkinson, the tourist board's chief executive said: "It's always good for our industry to put something back in to the local community. While we spend a lot of time focusing on attracting visitors, tourism businesses must always remember that their success is rooted in good local relations."
