Home / Halsall
Halsall extends from the hamlets of Primrose Hill and Bangor’s Green near Ormskirk westwards across to Ainsdale. The sub district is ten miles long and encompasses sixteen thousand six hundred and ninety eight acres of reclaimed marshland. The area is wholly agricultural, with the western part of the parish being rich fertile farming land won from the extensive Halsall Moss. When the Leeds Liverpool Canal opened, it made Halsall more accessible to the tourists and for the farmers to take their produce to market. The industries that were most popular in Halsall were:
· Agriculture
· Manufacturing
· Retailing and Handicrafts
The village, with its imposing church, stands on the Southport to Aintree road.
