Padiham-based transport company Fraser Eagle has been working with Carbon Clear (www.carbon-clear.com), a leading carbon management organisation that specialises in helping businesses and individuals to reduce their carbon footprint through emissions reduction and carbon offsetting.
Fraser Eagle, which is best known as a coach tour and private hire operator, has registered a significant milestone by achieving carbon neutral status for the emissions from their own coach fleet, their executive taxis and company cars.
Once the amount of harmful emissions the business generated had been calculated, Carbon Clear then invested in dedicated sustainable energy and carbon reduction projects on Fraser Eagle's behalf. This offsets its unavoidable emissions by stopping the equivalent amount of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere elsewhere in the world, effectively cancelling it out.
Commenting on the decision to go Carbon Clear, Kevin Dean, Group Managing Director said:
"Whilst being realistic about the fact a certain amount of pollution may be unavoidable, we have decided to tackle our emissions as part of a move to operate in a more environmentally friendly way".
Mark Chadwick, CEO of Carbon Clear, added:
"More and more responsible businesses are recognising the impact they have on climate change and how important it is for everyone to play their part. Customers are increasingly demanding products and services that have been ethically produced and encouraging a move towards a low-carbon economy."
Amongst other initiatives, Fraser Eagle has also adopted the use of sustainable fuels for its 28-stong coach fleet after a deal it signed up last year with innovative Burnley start-up company, Dexter Biofuels, that provides a burning alternative fuel produced from renewable resources.
"We live up to our corporate responsibilities by constantly ranking environment care high on our business agenda - and in turn we are seeing that this enriches our brand reputation," concluded Kevin Dean.
