Even the ghosts are friendly and small, 250 year old family run country inn. It stands near Hoghton Tower, where King James I knighted a loin of beef, and his coat of arms hangs over the fireplace. Sirloin steak, is of course, the speciality on the menu, served in the puband adjoining restaurants. Three handpumps dispense a choice of beers, often from Lancashire breweries- a dark beer , withier mild or porter is usually avaliable.
